Planner & Urban Designer | Heritage Consultant
Dr David Batchelor is an urban planner and designer, heritage consultant, and academic. His doctoral thesis comprehensively defined the emergent Smart Heritage discourse for the first time in academic literature and produced a guidance document that supports local government organisations in implementing Smart Heritage in their strategic policies and operations. Smart Heritage is a new concept that converges the smart city’s automatic and self-curatorial capabilities with the historical value of heritage. Through Smart Heritage, cities can deliver personalised experiences of the past, rediscover oppressed historical narratives, and mitigate concerns about Authorised Heritage Discourses.
