Head of Digital at the Australian Museum
Megan Lawrence is Head of Digital at the Australian Museum, a role that leads design and development of digital experiences inspired by the Museum’s natural science and cultural collections.
Megan's early career as a new media artist and academic focused on using emerging technologies to document Australian communities and country, and she holds a Master of Creative Arts (Research) from the University of Technology, Sydney (2007). She has since worked producing innovative digital storytelling projects at the ABC and Australian Museum (AM).
Projects at the AM include redevelopment of the australian.museum website, the FrogID citizen science mobile app to collect species data for scientific research, and producing Digital Twin Experiences (DTX) of exhibitions. Megan is also co-convener of the Sydney Culture Network’s Data Salon, a meet-up for cultural workers interested or involved in the use of cultural data.
