Samarendra Kumar is presently working as a Director (Hqrs.) at NCSM. He has more than 32 years of experience in the field of Science Communication. He joined as Curator at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai in 1989 and has worked as Project Coordinator of Kurukshetra Panorama and Science Centre, Kurukshetra and Regional Science City, Lucknow before moving to Kolkata. At NCSM (Hqrs.) he is involved in the implementation of the Scheme of Promotion of Culture of Science (SPoCS) of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India for setting up of new Science Cities/Science Centres/Innovation Hubs and Digital Planetariums throughout the country. He was also involved in development of many galleries/exhibition for various organizations and centres including galleries on Rivers: Ganga, Brahmaputra and Kaveri. He was also the coordinator for conducting an independent Impact Assessment Study of NCSM for its activities and programmes. Recently he was instrumental in developing the International travelling exhibitions ‘Superbugs: The End of Antibiotics?’ in collaboration with SMG, London and now working on another international exhibition ‘Hunt for the Vaccines’ in collaboration with Science Museum Group, London. He has also participated in various workshops and presented papers in several national and international forums.
